Step-by-step instructions for editing the shared Canva template

You’re about to personalise a REDFEB social post with a photo and a name. Follow these steps carefully, even if you’re brand-new to Canva.

Open the shared template link

  • Click the link: Open the shared Canva template link in your browser.

  • Start editing: Click “Use this template” or “Customize this template” to open it in the Canva editor.

You will be prompted to either sign into your existing Canva account OR create an account.

Once you are logged in, choose the page(s) you want to edit

  • Browse pages: Look at the page thumbnails in the left sidebar to see the different designs available in this template.

  • Select a page: Click the page you want to personalise. The canvas will display that page for editing.

 For the Photo/Polaroid Design:

Upload your photo

  • Open Uploads: In the left toolbar, click “Uploads.”

  • Add your file: Click “Upload files,” then choose a photo of yourself or your loved one from your computer or phone.

  • Wait for upload: Once the image appears in “Uploads,” you’re ready to place it.

Insert the photo into the polaroid frame

  • Drag and drop: Click your uploaded photo and drag it over the polaroid frame until it snaps into place.

  • Adjust the fit: Double‑click the image inside the frame to reposition. Use the crop handles to zoom or center the face. Click “Done” when it looks right.

Troubleshooting: Layering help: If the photo sits behind or in front of elements oddly, select the image → “Position” → “Forward/Backward” to adjust layers.

Replace the placeholder name

  • Select the text: Click the text box that reads “<Insert Name>”

  • Type the name: Replace it with your loved one’s name (e.g., “Ava,” “Grandad Joe,” “Samir”). This placeholder appears on multiple pages in the template, so edit any page you plan to export.

  • Style if needed: Use the top toolbar to adjust font size, spacing, or alignment for readability.

For the Text Bar design (no photo):

Replace the placeholder name

  • Select the text: Click the text box that reads “<Insert Name>” which sits over the light pink text bar.

Download the finished page for social media

  • Open download: Click “Share” (top-right) → “Download.”

  • Choose format:

o   PNG: Best for crisp graphics and text.

o   JPG: Smaller file size, good for photos.

  • Select pages: If the file has multiple pages, pick the specific page(s) you edited (e.g., “Page 2”).

  • Download: Click “Download” and save the file to your device. The image is now ready to post on your social platform.

Now you’re ready to post to your social media account!
